Today's 60 second quick tip, is on this tool right here. One of my favorite tools, one of my favorite bits of kit, is a mini pry bar by gearwrench. Now i don't know how you get your hands on one of these, but if you have one - and you start using it for getting electrical connectors and stuff you'll say how did i live my life without it now tell me how i could get one erico. The fact is, you can't, but you probably have one of these just your plain old, run-of-the-mill pocket screwdriver.
Then you get one of these. You clamp that baby in the vice give her a few whacks undo. Your vice set it down. Next to this one and look at that, you got one, it's homemade.
Whatever angle you want you'll. Thank me later.
my favorite safety video was the one where they showed all the ways people used screwdrivers that they are not supposed to lol it gave me great ideas of things to do with old beat up screwdrivers it can be almost any tool
If you've ever had to rebuild a kurt vise, picks like this are essential. It's not for the faint of heart for sure.
Bullshit you can't, look up "solder assist tools". Or even better, Wera makes a precision size that I love.
When I was building dies
Built a pair of two inch long
"die bars" just to loan out to —
"Can I borrow your small
die bars ? ๐๐๐ "
I don't know how many times I've been doing a job and thought to myself man I sure could use a whole lot less leverage.
Use a torch, heat red hot, bend to angle of your choice,(a 90 degree is a GREAT tool) quench in oil to harden, and your done…You can grind a notch in the center to make a great nail puller…
This is a day 1 tip, if you have been working on stuff for a while, you probably already have a set of beater screwdrivers.
Everyone ignoring the fact that he said you probably couldnโt get a mini prybar but yet there is a pinned comment with a link for what seems to be the exact one (or VERY similar)
In fact itโs 3 of them! I can in fact get three sir! $9.99!
That tool you just showed was not a mini pry bar. It comes in a set short ones long ones one set right angles ones that left angles. They are made to install and D install hydraulic seals inside cylinders I know that's what I do for a living is hydraulics
I have one. It is about 2 or 3 times the size of the one you showed but I can send it to you if you really want another lol.
I have the same identical one and itโs a Mac Tools. Comes in set with the straight pry bar as well. Probably my #1 tool I use.
Oh my goodness, do I have a tool for you. Take a piece of thick feeler gauge and sharpen it down to a point with a very gradual taper. Should be about an inch and a half long or so and a quarter inch wide at the top of the taper. This finely sharpened pokey bit will save you all over. Pokey for opening packages, shove into connectors to pop the pins out, behind zip ties to take em off without breaking, cleaning fingernails….. Whatever. Almost as good as a pocket knife.
Mac sells those pocket pry bars in a set of two and in some cases you pick them up for $19.99 with a lifetime warranty. Not to mention, they have high carbon steel unlike a traditional pocket screwdriver
