Hey, what do you say? Another chevrolet? That's the tahoe. I don't know if this baby's got plates on it. Oh, we got a dealer plate, fantastic got the used car guys special here folks got no idea what uh year this thing is there's something in here. We got some stuff here.

Let's see what this says: uh 2010 chevrolet with a big five three 247 000 miles - is that correct 247 000 miles on a chevy holy sugar, all right, uh and he writes replace the crank sensor. It needs programmed in replace tires and wheels need. Sensors programmed transfer case has several codes. Need that figured out love, always your used car guy, okay.

So let's fire it up. That was a close one uh, so replacing the crank sensor on your chevrolet uh will typically uh. Give you a no codes, typically uh. Maybe no, it shouldn't give you a code, but you do need to do a crankshaft variation relearn or you should.

Typically, they won't throw a code for that, the only time they throw a code for that usually is if the pcm's been uh, replaced or programmed uh tire pressure, sensors, no problem transfer case several codes. Let's do that figured out so right now we do have some lights on. Let's have a little lucky got your classic money light. We got your blanket tpms light service, tire, monitor, light park, assist off and that was it 247 holy smokehouse see.

If anything, oh wow. Look at that it went in. Let me just put it down here in the neutral got four high: it doesn't seem to be blinking at four low. We do have a neutral foot on the brake.

Let's go driving around here for a bit mean that we do have a plate on it, see if we get any kind of funny business 247 wow, it's unheard of, don't lie sounds like maybe some backing plates and stuff that are rubbing. Of course, no history on a car not sure how long it's been sitting or anything all right. Let's do it does sound like it has perhaps some transfer case noise, there's a bearing type noise underneath we'll pull down here right where somebody else has already done. The burnouts i like to pull down in here, let's just see if the uh two-wheel drive works so we're in two-wheel peel.

Oh wait a minute! Something hold up, wait a minute something ain't right. What the friggin feels like the front: wheel's falling off the gosh dude! No there's like a engine mount or something going bad here, folks hold up yeah when i give it uh give it some torque here something has happened. Uh i don't know we'll be able to watch some of this from under the hood. I'm gon na.

Stick you right here holy shnikes, lady. That's a problem! That's not your problem, but i thought something didn't feel quite right. I was giving her some juice there and okay, let's roll the window back up wow. Hopefully the uh hood keeps the engine in for us we're gon na need that back to where we were okay, so two two-wheel drive doesn't burn out.

Let's see if we can do a four-wheel drive burnout, did you hear that folks, i'm not sure what that is, but it's not good. Let's put it back in two-wheel drive all right. Well, that makes sense why we have a host of codes. I say we go back out on the blacktop and uh, give it the beans.
Let's see what that does. Let's put it back in four-wheel, drive we'll see if we can just scatter the transfer case all over the blacktop. Oh that's not good at all. I don't know what it is, but it ain't good.

Let's uh blow a ue here, all righty, then, let's put it back in two-wheel, drive. Okay, obviously something's broke. I didn't bring my cell phone, so i don't want to walk excellent. Well, we've gathered some data.

Let's go have a gander, so we're back at the shop. We've got this maintainer on it set to nuclear. Let's just chip down his list here, we'll see. If any of these sensors are any good yeah.

We got one good one if they're the right ones. For the vehicle, or not that's, to be determined but we'll see if we can at least uh get one of his lights out here for him get that light out and then see if the crank variation relearn needs to be done and then find out what, in The thunder that's going on with this transfer case. Hey look at that three out of four ain't: bad! Let's try this one all right! We should be able to do an obd relearn, because we've already got her plugged in. Let's see what happens here, folks, obd, relearn.

Okay, it says all right, we'll clear any of the codes out of it that it has stored there and technically. Well, it's right in the world. Our light should be out. Our tpms light is now out.

So that's fantastic, we'll just have to adjust the uh tire pressures. Probably now that that's done, we will pop right in the ecm here and we'll see if it has your classic crank relearn code in it, which i'll be surprised if it does crank variation, not learned, and then your classic 521 uh super common gm code, but yeah. So not a problem here: let's, it should still be warmed up enough from our test. Drive we'll do our crank fee as long as the uh.

The battery in this thing's pretty well shot, though now, let's see off to on, we got to click on the parking brake. One click just enough to light up the parking brake light. Now it's going to want us to hold the brake start it. If it will perfect ac and everything off and then we're just gon na have to give it full throttle, while waiting for minimum coolant temp, that's interesting, i thought it would have still been warmed up.

It is almost warmed up 156 degrees that didn't take too long. Now it wants us to put it to the rug until fuel cut off occurs. Oh chevy thunder learned past okay. So now our code should be satisfied.

Look at that the light went out already. How do we get the parking brake parking brakes up? All the lights on the dash are out okay, we're making progress now baby, let's see how mad the transfer case control module is. He said that was littered with codes. According to the letter, which i think this is going to be a little more than hey, it's got a couple coats yeah.
I think this is all. This is all just a bunch of crap. You know not run past failed history, blah blah blah. I think the problem with the uh transfer case is well.

We got a couple things there's obviously some major mechanical issue with it and then the other problem is, you know, obviously not being able to switch to four low so which uh some of that stuff. That's kind of irrelevant: i think we should fix the big smashing crashing noise underneath it first. So let's clear the codes out of it, because we know the four wheel drive works to a certain degree. Let's put the gear shift in neutral: let's have a listen yeah.

It doesn't want to shift four low. Let's see if it recognizes the button. Uh mode select, switch. Look at that so auto four wheel drive two wheel: there's auto transfer case position and then we're gon na go to four mode, select switch off, it says so it doesn't recognize me.

Okay, it recognizes neutral. It does not recognize four low recognizes four high recognizes automatic and two-wheel drive in neutral. So that's quite interesting. It seems suspiciously clean, aka somebody's already tried changing oil to fix it.

Let's wait for a 200 plus thousand chevrolet, and this stuff should be black as syrup and right, full of metal somebody's had the crossmember bolts out of it. This oil is way too clean. I mean it smells looks and smells brand new. So that's the only crappy part about auction cars.

You just don't know because every every scumbag is out there trying to get a dime for their used car and uh. I'm not saying that every every car at the auction is junk, but every junk car is at the auction. Hey what i'm out here, i'm desperate! We need you, oh yeah. What are you doing facebooking? What about this child over here? Where's, the child? Hi? Oh you're? Getting up in this joint son of a mother put it in the drive, we got it in the four wheels right now.

This is going to scare the pudding out of you. How do you put it get back if the pudding goes, flying power break it slightly? Going to make a hell of a noise yep like you're, trying to do a burnout left foot on the brake start, giving her some gas don't smash the brakes down. You've never done a burnout, you're disappointed. Let up on that break a little a little more off.

The brakes a little more off the brakes, a little more gas, a little more gas holy shaky. Did that scare, the there's the pudding where's, the pudding all right. You wait there, that's what i need you to do, but we need to get underneath it roll your window down. Do you understand, do you understand now hold on okay, mister show us what you got.

Oh hey! Oh hey! Do that again, old girl! That's interesting! No! Not technically front drive, shaft's turning front drive, shaft's turning axles or not, but this axle here is not even in all the way. Do it again there old girl, hey, oh hey, oh this axle here is pushed out too hold on put it in uh, neutral nervous, though no okay, just a minute, i just bashed on the axles with a hammer. Let's do it again, mrs though there's a whack that in there with a hammer, show me what you got hey put it in drive your ding dong on the brakes, go girl on the brake power braking a little. Ah all right, that's good! That's good! We basically fixed it with a hammer, a lot of metal shavers coming out around this one, though baby, let me tell you: that's all metal interesting uh go ahead and shut off arrow girl put her in park.
Oh, let me go down we'll come back under here and have a closer look, so that was kind of interesting folks, because the uh axel's, obviously locked in now, all i did when uh i moved the camera there was we took and knocked them into their snap Rigs both sides, which is super bizarre, because i want to say i want to say the left side. If i remember correctly, the left side, which is the disconnect side, should have a snap or not a snapping. I think these have you know like horseshoe clip. I don't think this left side, stub shaft, you can just pull out.

I believe this side you can. This is a classic snap ring you take the axle out and you know you can drive that one out now. I believe the one over here has a snap ring. You know, i think the axle goes through.

It's got the you know the lock ring, and then you got the gear and the fork and all the garbage in here for the disconnect. But this one pops right out this axle comes out all the way and goes back in this one. There's nothing holding this axle in right now. Let me show you, you can probably see the gap there up in there.

You know that that one pops right out there's nothing there baby over back on the driver's side. Now this is the one that has all the metal slime and there is metal, there's metal, although you can paint yourself to look like the tin man. That one appears that the snap ring has regained itself. Let me get a little pry bar at least this way we can call without really loose.

We can call with the good news and the bad news. Good news is tire pressure. Sensors check, crank, shaft sensor check. That's pretty much it.

Everything else is bad news. Your left side engine mount is ready to lead down on you. The front axle is going to need to be replaced. Oh boy, oh boy, hey you guys ain't going to want to miss this! Ah, welcome to sledgefest 2021 baby.

Let me get you in there close you're gon na love. It let's go get mrs though come over here, mrs though i don't want you to miss one of your favorite second favorite smells in the entire world. Come on come on! Wait till you see this missiles, oh and for one other thing, but that's for in a second. Are you ready to watch? It already looks wow, oh yeah.
I think i think that's mostly metal. Does that look like just pure metal, very silver like if you poke the tin man in his main vein? Oh it's so thick! I love how you just said that i'm gon na say this one's broke. Mrs though oh good get in there and get a little whip of that, it's got so much metal. I can't put the plug thing: get the wood.

Now, i'm i've been smelling. My finger. No, you smell your own finger, it's the car dirty sanchez. I call it thanks.

Miss, though hope you enjoyed it as much as i did. Oh yeah anywho. I think that confirms it folks that we're not really going to mess with this front axle um have a look in the bucket that good, not good at all. That's just pure metal and really really stinky, uh, probably aluminium filings anyhow time to get a fork, because it's done i'm pretty near certain.

Somebody probably knew about this at some point being that that drain plug was pretty loose. You know, transfer case has new fluid in it and such uh. I think the best thing to do now. We know you know: we've got a bad engine mount, you know, that's got to be fixed.

He wasn't complaining about that, but that's got to be fixed. It's going to need uh, we'll get a used front differential for it with some lower mileage on it, and i think, prior to that he's probably gon na want the four low working so we'll see. What's going on with the four low we'll give the guy a call and uh see what he wants to do? Usually he fixes stuff. This is the good used car guy and uh we'll take care of uh this stuff.

So anyhow, stick around getting back on the chevrolet here folks uh. I had to take a break there for making my boy joshy and now i went in to look to see if we could find this chart to see about the four low. So i did find the resistance spec of each setting on that switch, and then i also found this chart here which had the nominal voltage for each given range that we had it in and it's spot on the money. So that tells me that that switch is working which is kind of odd.

I thought the switch would be wonky now when we had it in two high, auto and four high. It could recognize the switch input on the scan tool. Voltages were right on rotational, sensors were within a few degrees. When i put it in four low, it did go to a volt and a half.

However, the switch status it didn't show as four low it just said off and then, of course it recognized neutral and the transfer case will not shift into neutral either. So this is kind of odd um. I assume, if all of our nominal voltages are good. Our resistance values are also good.

Our mode switch supply voltage always stayed at 5, volts or 4.9, pretty close to it and according to service data, it says if all circuits and connections test normal reprogram, the transfer case module if the code repeats replace the transfer case. Control module because if i leave it in four low it will generate a code as b2725, so long story short we're going to take and hook up to i'm going to try to flash the transfer case module. I'm not really feeling it folks. So there that's running through all proper now and we selected the correct module.
So that's good. I did check to make sure the transfer case wasn't logic locked as they like to call it uh, so i removed power from it for a long time. While i was helping josh so disconnect the power from it for like a half an hour hooked, it up. No change so uh just case anybody's wondering about that.

So we're gon na. Do the uh transfer case motor relearn right now, because the uh service four-wheel drive light was on after doing the reflash, so let's just make sure that that code system configuration that learned. Let's make sure we can clear that code now, yeah anytime, you fiddle with these. You got to do that.

Relearn just make sure everything's cool there, all right so we'll just uh park here cycle the key just to make sure make sure we're not going to get the service forward drive light. I will, i don't see it there. It should have popped right up it popped right up, since we had the key on before so we'll just reread the codes here. Put it neutral, that's good! Okay! Let's see no sir, so yeah we're in the same boat.

I didn't think it was gon na fix it. It's interesting because, if you're in four high and you jump right to two well, this time it changed, sometimes it doesn't really sucks, really suspect of this uh switch because, like i said, i've tried neutral a couple times. You can't get it to shift to neutral or for low, even though the voltage lines up perfectly uh. I've checked and verified that the brake input is good, because you got to have your foot on the brake to get it to go into four low yeah.

You know the neutral input. Everything is there to make it work either that or the transfer case control module is just bunk, but when we go into live data here, our return voltage is supposed to be 1.5 volts and four low oops. I just turned the headlights on sorry so in four low, we're at 1.5 volts, but the mode switch selected says off, which is weird because it works in every other. Four high auto two in neutral, really makes me want to get a switch for it, regardless of what our our voltage there says, it's it's kind of bizarre.

I wish i had a donor truck here just to pop one in because all the other, all the voltage specs are everything seems spot on the money. But switches in these things are a super common failure. So here's what i'm thinking folks uh as silly as this sounds. I would try a switch prior to replacing the transfer case control module.

I see that the mode switch return voltage is correct in order for it to achieve that. It's you know. It's taken five volts in it runs it through this resistor, you know multiplexing, i guess it would be, and then it you know, spits out a voltage to the transfer case, control, module and says hey. This voltage represents this selection, knowing what we know from looking at service data, seeing that it lines up correctly with the chart, knowing that we have the the latest and greatest in software.
It tells me that the transfer case - control module is probably crap prior to doing that, though, knowing that this, the switches on these are extremely high failure, i would be inclined to be a hack and just get one and plug it in and see if it resolves. The issue, if it doesn't at that point, i would have to assume, with the data gathered, that it is a problem with the transfer case, control module and then we would replace that and then, if that didn't work, we'd say take it to the dealer. Because that's what you say when you don't know what's wrong with a car uh! That's a! If you hear that from your mechanic. That means he doesn't know and that's a scapegoat which obviously we wouldn't do, but i don't have anything else to go off from other than service data and it shows everything as it is it shows everything is everything is awesome, everything is awesome, uh and everything is Cool when you're part of a team - and i don't know what else to do - it's interesting - that it sees the correct voltage on the return, but the mode switch selected portion of the data never says for low.

So that's the part that concerns me a little bit. Uh, i don't know what else to do so. That's what i would do because sometimes we're desperate uh. At this point, we got to get ahold of used car guy see if he wants to do the mount see if he wants to put the front axle in it or the front differential and then see if he wants to.

Uh wants us to get a switch and potentially a transfer case control module and then we'll take it from there. I guess that was it. I think. That's all that was on the on the love note here: uh, let's see program, wheels, transfer case codes, figure it out um and then uh yeah.

So we did everything else. So anyhow, probably gon na be a part. Two to this you go in that comment section. You leave your comments, your concerns, your criticisms, why are you down there subscribe ring the bell be on the lookout for other videos coming from this guy, because i'm pretty sure he'll have us fix it, and hopefully we get to the bottom of it and put your Best thoughts down there and let us know if your mechanic says you got ta, go to the dealer and what you think that means, and just for my reviewers, if i can do it, you can do it thanks for watching.

247,000 miles is high but i've got that beat. My pickup is a 06 3500 Duramax with 402,500 miles on it and its very clean still.

Im about to have over 200,000 on my 2015 chevy Colorado 😂. New engine in it at 120,000 miles but original everything else other then regular maintenance.

It's the last year they made the 6 speed manual to.

Man you guys have too much fun at your shop, wish I still lived up your way…Not that I miss the rust bucket though. Nice down south here. things come apart without snappin every bolt..yee haa

So funny I have a 2012 Cummins longhorn and the abs, 4×4 , traction control and park assist light is on the place I brought it to changed one of the abs wires going to right rear wheel didn’t fix the problem then he said it was my ABS module and that I need to take it to the dealer. So basically he just doesn’t have a clue and just copped out I wish I could find a mechanic around my parts that does have a clue like you Eric I’m from ct and ready to drive down to New York to see you

Ha! The dealer is not gonna get engineering support from the manufacturer for a vehicle with 247k miles on it. The dealer is just as likely to fire the parts cannon at it.

Why are you surprised at the milage my suburban had 286k my newer suburban has 133k right now my chevys last over 300k easy I had a Chevy van over 400k.

We say those 5.3s with that many miles on it down south are just getting broke in good here down south. Those trucks go for big money with those type of miles on them. Shout out Eric O. God bless

I've seen and have owned many Chevy's/GM with more than 250,000 miles. My 96 Jimmy has over 300,000 miles and run great. The body is getting pretty rough but still a great runner. I plan on putting a blow on it. I gave my son in-law my 02 Saturn that had 260,000 miles when I gave it to him. He drove it for over 2 years, without ever changing or checking the oil and blew it up.

Also just because there’s a bunch of shavings in there could’ve been because somebody just did that and it hasn’t been running with all the metal in there for very long he didn’t even check the differential to see if it’s worn out the gears the ring and pinion they could be like brand new because of the axles were just done and not put in all the way even though I know the shavings came out of the differential area check it before you just replace it come on you know better

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Steve Bastin says:

But did you re-check it after you put the axles back in and why were those axles out and somebody replace them and not new to put them all the way in pastoring clip so I’m wondering if you tested it after you snapped it back in because in four Lo it’s gonna throw that code because the axles and skipping and missing rather than catching how they’re supposed to

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Austin Adcock says:

Lol in the south all of these things have 200,000+ also they almost all need engine mounts. The transfer cases are also weak but abundant in local junk yards for like $250. You rarely see transfer case problems down here unless it’s these generation gm trucks.

Check the connectors behind the 4wd transfer switch for corrosion and/or bad connections and then clean the interior of that switch with either 99% rubbing alcohol or De-Oxit, to get rid of any corrosion, before getting a replacement switch, unless they're really inexpensive.
