In a previous video: https://youtu.be/gUYk98L7umY we had a look at a Honda Odyssey that was towed in with a "no power" complaint. It didn't take long to see the cat was plugged solid. The customer authorized replacing it and we did. Now let's take it for a rip and hear that V-Tec bark. -Enjoy!

All much quieter so what we need to do now, folks, i need to give you guys a 578 000 on the time. This is the one we just did: uh the cat, or we found that cat was plugged. So we have a new jersey, new york emissions compliant converter now installed and we need to take it for a rip. The guy said: don't worry about the tires um.

He said he's good he's. Gon na drive her back to jersey - probably not gon na make it in my opinion, but um, not my problem, so i put a little air in them. Uh we're gon na be driving on some slicks here, and it is raining. So that's good! It's a little excitement all right.

Let's rock and roll. Let's see if we got our power back, oh yeah, that's quick, oh crap can't see, should have left them off all right. We're gon na leave those off. They don't work.

That's convenient wow! Well! The good news is uh the converter's new. Let's try to look at the bright side of things here. Folks, we'll go out here, we'll do a whole shot with it make sure it's got power, but mana's wheel is shaking like cray-cray over. Here must be i'm sure.

I assume has a broken belt: we're going awful, slow, we're only going 35 and that wheel's shaking pretty good. I wouldn't want to drive it. However, many hundred miles it is back to wherever it's got to go but, like i say, no breaks, no breaks, no breaks there. We go yeah, no breaks baby, that's fun until it's not all right we're going to do a little coaster here, because we got no brakes.

He didn't need brakes before. He had no power. Oh yeah she's, full v-tech, that's probably as fast as we should go. All right, well, i think we're all satisfied.

Oh that's like final destination right here. That was a log truck i'd, be really scared. All right, we lived survivor. We made it back to the shop uh besides having no wipers and no brakes and no tires and a bunch of other things wrong.

It also has no ac, so it's getting hot in here um, and that's that not getting too deep. With this one converter was plugged the converter itself, the one underneath that we replaced once i got it out. I could see that the debris in it it was missing. You know a good quarter of its own capacity, so it was its own chunks, jiggly bits in there.

I guess i guess what i'm saying is it wasn't from the front converters not uncommon on these hondas, but seeing the you know the oil and stuff in here. I can only assume that this thing burns oil and you know that's probably why what happened. You know happened, but whoa dude thundering out now um so yeah. I guess i guess that's it.

We're moving on uh fixing the rest of that stuff. I mean. That's. That's up to this guy.

I was here to address the no power complaint and that is it and that's what we did needs a converter, probably a million other things so uh. One thing i need from you, though, is for you to go in that comment. Section. The facebook, the insti, that's the symbol for that the comments, the questions, the concerns, everything you got put it down there smash that thumbs down.
Let us know we suck and just remember viewers. If i can do it, you can do it thanks for watching you.

You are crazy, I wouldn't have driven that car 10 yards or let it leave the shop under its own power, that is an accident waiting to happen.

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gerry Scrimshaw says:

Do you get the customer to sign a waiver that your not responsible for letting him have the vehicle back in an unroadworthy condition?

It's because of dips**t people like this Han-do's owner that I've lost pretty much all faith in humanity. That person is a danger to society; driving a very pooly maintained vehicle around is terribly irresponsible at best.

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars San Angelo says:

I have never understood people that refuse to have good tires or breaks. I asked a person that was showing cord once on a tire why they dont get it replaced and their response was “it looks worse then it actually is” . WTF …….

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mark says:

Surprised you can release it to the owner in that condition. Here in Australia you can't legally let them drive it away if the brakes and tyres aren't working and you are liable if they have an accident due to duty of care laws. The owner either pays for it to get fixed or gets it towed somewhere else.

"oh don't worry about the tires". There are USED TIRE SHOPS EVERYWHERE that will sell you reasonable rubbers that are safe and passable for a FRACTION of what new rubbers sell for. Back when I was hard up for money, I bought a full set of rubbers, mounted and balanced for like $80. Guys that neglect their rubbers are just lazy….

One of 3 guys in the world I'd trust to fix anything he recommended these people don't know how lucky they are to have someone who cares so much and with so much integrity

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dan says:

The owner is insane, here In The UK some garages wouldn't let you take that away without signing a disclaimer to that they warned you it was dangerous to you and others.

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mark Petrassi says:

When I worked in a garage we had a white line painted on the floor for cars like this. " The White Line Guarantee" They'll take the car to another garage and have the other stuff done and try to make you pay for it because you didn't fix the problem.

Not a fan of the Honda Odyssey…. Seen too many of them have issues. Like a friends who had the motor take a dump after 50K… and she is the type to always take care of a vehicle. She finally got rid of that piece of garbage….

No brakes, bad tires, I don't know how you can live with yourself if anything happens to him on the way home..or a car he wipes out.

I know a garage owner who would not give him the keys unless he fixed the rest of it. I suppose depends on how your head works I guess.

I had a real life ‘Final Destination’ episode about 14 years ago. It was raining at 6:00 a.m. on the 5 freeway in at Los Feliz Blvd in Los Angeles. A tanker was entering the freeway and began to hydroplane at 70 mph about 25 yards ahead of me. I quickly told my wife to slow down and let him pass and to continue to slow to a stop. This was about the only time she listened to me while she drove. We threaded through the rear of the tanker and split the sholder as it jackknifed with the cab slamming into the median facing the wrong way and the tank trailer log rolling across 4 lanes of traffic. It played out as if it were in slow motion.

I have had half a dozen experiences like this and have never had a scratch on my car. Another time I relived ‘Planes, Trains, and Automobiles’. Actually it was 5 years before the movie and I was facing two side by side semis going 70 mph on US40 in flagstaff. One main difference was I was going 70 backwards as I spun out in the snow when I down shifted to use my engine to slow me down. I didn’t synchronize my engine and transmission and had to pull the clutch to regain control. I saw the faces of the truck drivers about three car lengths back and fortunately they were able to slow down an give me some room. I continued about a half mile down hill driving backwards with the clutch pulled until I saw a upward slope on the shoulder where I initiated a Y turn up the slope and jammed on the brakes at the apex. I let the two semi’s pass then Shifted into 3rd to continue down the slope and allow the engine to brake and limit my downhill speed.

Bet you'd have seen oil as thick as molasses if you checked the oil. Owner doesn't seem too keen on properly maintaining his vehicle.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Motiv says:

IPA quick wipe on the wipers can usually bring em back, even for a short time. (unless theyre completely dry rotted of course)
