If I was the owner… I would suspect that there's a way to disassemble this thing and there's just a broken connection somewhere… Replacing the actual LED light is probably pretty cheap….

Shitty mechanic. You can most definitely solder new LEDs In within just a few hours. Still charge the same amount and it's pure profit. Maybe your shop needs better mechanics. I know the shop I own can and will fix this easily, while keeping our ego and reputation intact 🤣

GM does have special coverage over those but won't honor it if it has a certain number of miles, actually not a hard fix with a little soldering of the right spots on the led circuit board
That's how companies get you. They make it impossible for you to get the parts you need from other vendors and overcharge you.
GM has a special coverage on the lights if she had brought it to the dealer they would have replaced it for free
