In this video we are reminded of the old saying, "if it's to good to be true, it probably isn't." This is a perfect example as a mechanic was unloading the parts cannon to attempt to fix this Chevrolet he ended up on E-Bay and bought an entire set of "AC Delco" Fuel injectors for $85! 😂 Let's get real, they are $97 EACH at the deal! Any how, it may have cost him the engine as we see in this video the #2 injector is wide open possible hydro locking the engine and bending the rod. We'll never know because the mechanic is taking it back to his shop to toss a few more parts in the chamber. For what it is worth, beware if buying what seems like a great deal from the internet. -Enjoy!

You know what is really sad ? We’re not going to see what really happened…..damn. Greatest lesson….stay the hell away from E-Bay parts , all parts no exceptions ha ha ha

good thing you did a video to document this. You are protected from any potential lawsuit being won by him or his "swaptronics master" now.

Its funny how a LOT of people mention ebay parts being a problem, but no one mentions Amazon as being just as much, if not more of a problem, than ebay. If anything, cheapskates would go where parts are cheap, AND the shipping is "free".

I Purchased knock sensors for Silverado on Ebay because local dealer didn't have them in stock. They were listed as OEM parts, the packaging looked convincing, but the parts did not, didn't have any numbers or markings. I installed them anyway because my friend needed his truck for work as fast as possible. And guess what, none of them was good. So I went to local parts store, got some aftermarket parts and replaced them again. That fixed the problem. I contacted the Ebay seller saying that parts are not OEM, he send me refund without single word. He know exactly parts are counterfeit

Hi Eric, Your right about parts from ebay. Folks have be careful were they buy there parts from. Also make sure the parts match engine you are working on. Thank you Eric.

Pretty much I never buy anything online, unless the seller has a stellar reputation.

Eric O did a vid on 4wd shift motors… yep, I got burned. Twice! Once off fleabay; the next was Dorman. Both immediate fails.

It is a damned crime that a shade tree mech can't get quality parts in flyover country.

yep,, ask my son about E-bay parts, his V-6 maxima, needed a timing chain, with guides and tensioners,, 25 miles after being fixed, it needed a new engine,,,

If you aren't buying parts from a brick and mortar parts supplier store, OE, or Rock Auto/Summit/Jegs, you run the high likelihood of being scammed by a 3rd party seller, This goes for Amazon too, but Amazon is a little bit easier to deal with if you have a problem if the order is wrong or a bad product. Ebay is trash for the most part, if you have a problem you're usually up shit creek without a paddle.

I guess at this point he really doesn't have much to lose but you'd think he would have learned from the first go-around.
I do most of my own mechanic work and only buy parts from vendors I know, if by chance I don't think I can handle the work that needs to be done, I take it to someone I trust. You'd think that most any "mechanic" would look at the injectors first when it starts puking raw gas out the exhaust. But then again we are talking about a " Mechanic " that slapped on some expensive catalytic converters because of a lean code.

Well, that's not good. Counterfeit black powder from eBay. Who would have ever known? Watch those parts cannons.

eBay is into even more scumbaggery as both ebay and PayPal are not shielding the sellers name. The shipping address says from eBay and the PayPal transaction lists eBay Commerce with no description of what was purchased.

I don't purchase auto parts from eBay, but have purchased consumer goods including a Surefire M952V LED light that also produces IR light. Sent seller a message, is this genuine? Yes, Price was too good, it was Chinesium, contested sale and notified Surefire and the government ITAR folks for arms violation. Got money back, kept Chinesium light and Surefire went after seller.

We don't all have Wilbert's down the road. Another reason to be thankful that you live in Avoca. eBay is a jungle for used parts, but almost every search returns something that looks like it ought to fit. Especially when you're in pre-21st century and foreign territory, eBay might be your only option.

Discovered years ago if its insanely cheap its probably going to have an insanely short lifespan if your lucky, if unlucky could cause damage.

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rider54 says:

That was crazy! What “mechanic” would try more eBay injectors? I suggest this “mechanic” binge watch all of your videos so he might learn how to be a worth while mechanic. Great video!

I'm always a dealership parts counter guy when it comes to my vehicles. Since I'm also an airplane mechanic in the weekends I have to use FAA certified parts even alternators on a Cessna even though some will say AC DELCO.

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Common Sense says:

OMG, after seeing this, i can't sleep at night no more. I got Bosch spark plugs from Amazon for my Jeep, and they were looking weird … still running. But who knows for how long…

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Qusin111 says:

Good video and information, I am dealing with people saying they have genuine parts and they are junk. … maybe go Dorman? lol PS some of the parts store did have (in the past) fake parts but they do warrant them … once.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Peter Chang says:

I get a lot of my parts from RockAuto…. what are your thoughts on getting stuff from them? Only had a couple minor problems…. 1. rear wiper blade for q7… no way it would fit. Their cross reference was wrong. To be fair, went to local parts store and their cross reference was wrong too. Ended up just bringing the wiper blade in and looking at all the 15" to pick the correct one. 2. $30 fuel pump for miata, connector was wrong… Got refunds in both cases.
