In a previous video (https://youtu.be/H7D-k-_3phI) we replaced the rear shackles and hangers on this rusty Ranger and now it is time to finish off by replacing the broken front sway bar links and the coolant thermostat that is causing the engine light to come on. -Enjoy!

Hey there, viewers welcome back to the self made auto channel, we're back on the 2007 ford ranger she's two wheel drive one tire fire four cylinder with a stick: rollie pulley windows sway bar links, uh last video. We did the rear shackles, we torched it all off. We fixed it up, we laughed, we cried. We had fun, we come up here with the torch we chopped off the bottom.

Of course, this sway bar link's, already busted, as you may be able to see, and now we got to finish that job and carry on so we're gon na use the air hammer classic move now. If and that were me - and i were you which i'm not and i didn't have a torch home, just sawzall cut off wheel, hacksaw bite it off with your teeth. I don't care uh in the salt belt. That is because things get crusty and then just go.

Just go silly with it, after that, you just show it big nasty and it submits just like that. We have to get a little nasty on that side or not so then we might be able to hit the shaft off here. You can't see crap, not gon na happen, uh, let's take. Let's take the cut off wheel and just zingy thing through that and then try to hit the top off, and that way we don't have so much friction that we're trying to get off of the sleeve here, because the bolts rusted right clean in it.

You could also use your saws up, but these make a lot more smoke way, more dramatic, probably not as effective. Let's try that really disappointed at the lack of smoke should have used the torch, because nothing says i'm working hard, like white smoke, rolling off the truck you're working. This is on this guy's. A loser.

Gosh trust this guy. I don't what the crap people are gon na freak out now, clamping that to the inner tie, rod well, hi luna come here kitty kitty come here, luna came over to visit us, say: hi luna, hi yeah. Where is a good girl? Oh, come get pop pop. A hug, even though there is no need for a cat scan uh.

This probably won't work, but we're gon na give it a try. Chances are the vice grips. Are gon na fly off and hit me in the melon, but we're gon na give it a shot? Never mind worked perfectly just like i thought it would just needed to hold that thing still wow that escalated quickly, uh, no, it didn't break the tie, rod end fracture, the suspension, ruin the alignment or whatever else, you're writing at this point, but it could so. I would say: never ever do that.

Obviously, what we're doing here is for entertainment purposes as usual uh the sway bar brand that we're using is el chiboo, that's the company that makes it, i think, we're just trying to get them this guy's sticker. These things can be a oh look where that thing's made right here in america, says you're not made in usa, whatever the heck. That is, you don't see that too much um again lock, nuts. These are a different variety.

These are slightly acorned on the top got the three crimpies on it. I'm not even going to make a hypothesis of what they'll do to the threads, because i was wrong on my last ones. See if you can't get it lined up. It's going to say if everything goes well, you should have just enough to not get a thread started on the bottom, so what we'll have to do find our pry bar all right.
Look at this thing. I bought this thing. It is huge ready here. It goes.

She's long thin and black look at that baby and adjustable on the end, so i've got a bunch of these indexing pry bars in the smaller variety. Then i saw this big monster and i was like you know. I need to get me some of that. Oh, this is this: is gon na hurt, mr so we're gon na i'm gon na.

Do this, where you can't see it, because that makes sense, especially with a video that might be helpful, so i'm just putting the washer and the nut on while pushing down on the threads. If you're doing this you'll know what i mean, if you've done it, you already know what i mean. Let's go do the other side what's up missus, though you know what song i think of when i think of you when you're in there homeschooling? Oh, no, you don't know which song i'm thinking um, probably i'm high for teacher. You know youtube's fussy about that kind of stuff.

Even if it's unrecognizable are you saying that i sing out of tomb? I didn't say anything i was just asking you're not applying it. No, i was just questioning your question right hurt. My feelings run me down. Well, do you have a different song and a homemade one? Oh, you know i've got homemade songs to do that sing.

All the time wishing i could play the guitar and sing you, the song, that i sing, because i make up some super fun songs for us. Maybe you should just start with like the ukulele. They only have so many but they're tiny. Maybe you haven't noticed, but i have an abnormally large nose and arthritic fingers.

I don't know so. Harmonica might solve both your problems. Yeah. I thought about playing the harmonica.

Maybe when you retire, you can be old man in the rocking chair playing this harmonica. I don't think that's a thing, you know it's a thing. I don't think old men sit around playing harmonica. Oh, you could be that guy.

Not me why not i'm going to be chasing around my old girl? Oh that's great wait. Come here hold still i'm going to get you stuff like that i'll drive in my car, excessively slow, pissing people off he's got nothing to do and nowhere to be that's right, um. How is your uh homeschooling thing going? It's friday. We all need to tgif time to get drunk, that's what it means who needs to break you and the children trinity seems to be doing better today and then kelly seems to be falling apart.

You want to take this in because see they don't go to public schools. Actually you can have them. Is that how it works just like old-fashioned days get out of line get back in line just like when we were growing up right. Oh, it's not a matter of me naughty! Oh yeah! That's super useful.
He asked me the other day he's like. Have you ever used any of this irl? I was like yes son daily, so now i'm a liar. I'm sure people do it's, not my line of work typically. Sometimes, no me, neither you neither no, of course i can barely freaking read and write so who might us tell him what he should learn in that way? I don't know you just tell me: he needs to learn everything that i put in front of him.

Do what your mother says. That's why i tell him all the time he just comes out. Do i do this like do what your mother says, but it's not to me. You guys wouldn't know how to read or write either hey.

We got ta get to work with this, so nice chip chat. We got ta find some tools. She does good with the children and it's a good thing, because if i was in charge, they'd probably be in public school, i'm not super good. When it comes to the school stuff, i hated school myself.

I kind of feel bad for my kids, but i also know it's quite necessary, oh and i think it's required by law from the state but uh. So when you snug that up don't go silly with it a little bit of smoosh on the rubbers and that's it don't tighten that thing down until it hits bottom as desperately as you want to i've got about uh, three or four threads showing i'll show you We'll snug up the other side and i'll give you a quick look. That's what those look like now! Obviously you're going to want to go through your service data and look it up there and torque it correctly and get the correct amount of smush that you need. So but uh for the time being until we do that that should work just fine now we'll move on to bigger and better things.

I think i have you in the best angle of the dangle. The thermostat is an entire housing lives down. Here it's got a couple of hoses: lower rad hose bypass hose power. Steering pressure switch we're going to unplug the it i think i just saw the rubber gasket fall out of it right into my drain.

Pan perfect, let me get that we have to undo the hose clamps squeeze just slip it down the hose here, a little bit cut it loose, get it up where it's going to be easier for us to reinstall. I don't know how good this is going to be the video, probably not very good, but never claimed to really be a good video guy, and then we need to find out where this other one is so she's on the bottom you're gon na have to pardon Me for a minute because we're going to get hooked onto it at the bottom side. Here you don't want to stick your fingers down here them clamps. They are pretty unforgiving.

They will snap you on the end of the finger and laugh in your face now make sure you drain all the cooling out of it and or have a giant bucket handy as we do, because you're going to make a mess. Okay and no matter where you put the bucket the coolant's not going to go in it, so don't get too excited about that. It's the classic reach-around hose pick, try to get it from the back side, but don't poke a hole in the hose whatever you do. Come in there be nice feel around you'll feel it slip in then just work it all the way around until you crack that bond loose of the hose and then you should be able to at that point wiggle and pull.
Ah, she comes plug glug glug glug. That's off we're gon na need a socket appears to be the eight millimeter variety. Oh there it go you're about three inches too short, not the first time, not the first time we'll leave that one in a little bit we'll leave that one in a little bit. We'll finish her off with a handy cuz, we don't want to drop any of these.

Oh that one's out all the way. Now we're in now we're in a tricky situation very tense moment there. It is it released because we do have a bucket of antifreeze underneath the vehicle if you do drop them. At least you know where they'll go precisely all right get ready to make some rain because she's gon na glug glug.

Now now it's not gon na hit. Your bucket, oh we're missing the bucket there. We go we're in we're good. It was a close one fella.

So here's the thermostat and here's what she looks like the classic double nipple double springer, okay, going indeed for the astro 9532 full carbon scraper be careful. It is aluminium one minute, you're scraping next minute, you're, seeing the pistons in the side of the block. It's not that sharp, but you can uh. You can gouge it up.

I need to move the camera, so i can get in there once that is clean. As a whistle we've got our new t-stat, this is from napper still not a sponsor. Never will be so. We could probably quit saying that why? Because we're never gon na, let them and then what we're gon na do very gingerly go down here.

With this we're going to bring them all in equally and slowly, it's an o-ring type gasket. They usually seal quite well. All right we'll get a ratchet, we'll get very handy so just lightly snug those and then you know the obvious part is getting the specs from service data and then torquing them to factory. Specs.

Definitely don't skip that, but we don't bother showing that on youtube because it takes too long to go. Look it up and just bore you with the clicking of the torque wrench and looking up the specs, and nobody wants to see that so we'll just go through and very gingerly snug them and get them just about to the point where we're gon na have to Torque them so right about all right. There done so now we are going to use some of the uh xerox by valvoline uh. However, they don't sponsor so we're not going to show that, but it is the 50 50.

well hit the whole baby uh. It is the gold, so it's going to be the oem equivalent coolant, we're going gon na do that before we fire it up, though i haven't cleared the codes out of it. She's got your classic p0128 insufficient coolant, temp code and that's what we should resolve by replacing the thermostat. I'm not looking, i'm not looking, i'm not looking.
What do you got going on here, though? We got a beggar, hi, luna, hi pumpkin, oh you're, so hungry huh used to be a homeless kid now, you're starving all the time. Probably not the lettuce. No you smell them, make it wow your floor is filthy. This is embarrassing.

Oh that looks so good. What are you making there miss, though later potato salad? What about right now, the whistle just blue, oh we're gon na, have we're gon na have to take salad, steak, salad, it ain't easy being here. Is it potato salad yeah for the potato? Salad? That's the steak? Is that it innocent baby beer yeah? Aren't they all innocent? It wasn't a baby october. Last year, wow yeah, that's a foreign baby pig.

Why is everything a baby? I don't know you only see if there's any babies cause there's anybody. You eat baby, baby beer, baby, pigs, baby cows, baby chicken, baby chickens, unborn chickens, yeah, even savage wow, luna's, quite a beggar yeah annoying. This is an annoying background. She's picky she'll need to eat lettuce.

I do not say hi to the people. He is a good girl and, yes, we still have our dogs for the comments filled with that and all of our children, even though there's only two of them here, nobody ever asked they're, always like hey. You took out your dogs, but when they see two kids you're like hey, you still got your third kid. They don't ask how they do this.

They never asked me never ask about where the third kid is, the only one to know about the animals. Huh. That's correct: there you go, we got ta get to work. Mrs though, are you hungry mm-hmm, especially, i think we're going to leave this truck at where we're at folks coolant is full.

These bleed very easily. These are great design as far as how they bleed i've. Always been pretty happy with them even way back in the day. At this point, i've cleared the codes.

I need to start it. Let it warm up, try to get a drive cycle out of it. Uh for this fella uh check it over the rest way for inspection and then let him go get his sticker and everything should be cool and i i think that's it. There's no sense.

I'm just driving around with me wasting time and don't waste my time by not going in that comment section the comments, the questions, the concerns that insti almost forgot that the facebook - i just remember, viewers. If i can do it, you can do it thanks for watching.

On my 2000 Ford Ranger 2 wheel drive I had to take the cutoff wheel to all four of my sway bar links because they were that rusted on period And I don't live in the Rust Belt.

My daughter just came home from WVU today, completely broken front sway bar link on drivers side. I have a "little nasty", hope that does the job. Perfect timing Eric for this video.

I got a 7 foot steel pipe… I havnt used it. Got it at Wal-Mart after someone destroyed the cart return. I cleaned it up cause it was there in pieces for a month, put it in a couple grocery carts, pushed to front door, took the best stuff and left.

Watching your video on the F150 spark plug replacement, has me quite hesitant in changing mine lol… I've NEVER taken a vehicle to a shop, for simple things. But boy, I believe she's going to a professional for that.

Eric, I changed my thermostat a few years ago but it is cautionary tale with a happy ending. My thermostat is located right at the top of the engine held down with three bolts against a rubber ‘O’ ring (maybe you are related? Lol). With the thermostat removed I like a bone headed idiot accidentally dropped one of the bolts into the open hole of green coolant and heard it tick, tick, tick as is descended deep into the engine block. Fortunately the block was alloy. My son had a construction toy that had 1/2” ‘plastic ‘connectors’ with magnets on each end. I tied a length of button thread to the middle of one of these connectors and lowered it into the the coolant. Tick, tick….tack! and fished the bolt out. Stupid mistake but a simple fix.

Been out of high school 50 years and still trying to find a use for algebra. As far as I know there is not one. Where's the other kid, you wanted us to ask so I thought I would. If there is a back story I don't know it sorry 🙂

Have you ever tried out hose pliers? They are amazing for breaking the seal on hoses without having to pull out the pick and risk making holes, just grab the right size and then squeeze and twist!

What’s it got mechanic man!!!!! Hey Eric O, if you read this thanks for doing what you do here on YouTube. I’m in the field also and I’ve learned a lot on driveability/electrical from your videos. You would make a great teacher. I even watch videos on things I already do regularly to see if I can learn anything new. I wish there were more technicians like you out there, I’ve worked with way too many butcher hacks, sadly even at the 2 new car dealerships I worked at. You would think they would have better standards. You’re the best car channel on out there, keep it up. Also me and my wife also have a cat named Luna. But she’s super old and vomits hair balls quite often
