Oh eight jeep, i think it's the patriot or a compass or something or other, and evidently it has some lighting issues uh with some hyper flash. I guess it's called got. No marker light there we got a marker light there. Let's see what we have in the back, we got a marker light.

There marker light there we've got a plate light. Let's find the four-way switch here, both indicators on the dash, so no marker light no turning signal there. We got a turn signal there. I believe it was that left turn when i pulled it in here yesterday there got one there we got one there, so everything appears to be an issue with this left front.

So being a chrysler, we are going to make a big assumption. It's got a bad ground, so let's look up a wiring diagram before we even get uh too deep here, yeah you're, a good woman. What are these things here? What's that people can't even see you picking on me over there real classy? So i can see what i'm looking at they work when you put them up there. Yes, all right, don't use them on camera because they're embarrassing, that's embarrassing, but i can't see i wear your glasses every day, but you're hot.

I look cool. Let's see what you look like, let's think, oh yeah, do i look more intelligent. There is some, oh don't even say it. First, the delivery guy now the guy was blasted you're, the guy in the plaza.

What are you doing? I'm just thinking something miss though, if you were a fruit girl, you'd be a fine apple wow. I got ta get to work all right thanks for the thanks for the coffee. It appears we have to remove the wheel to get to the center liner. That's handy when you just got ta change a bulb.

You know jeez. I assume it has bad ground because we have two functions that don't work which are completely separate functions. They are computer controlled. So i can't fathom that these you know their both functions are are faulty.

But again you never know what is chrysler. Well, it's got your classic zip tie down there at the bottom. Let's chop it off, that's just about as stupid as it gets. You got to get your hands up in there to get to that way to go chrysler.

Gm builds, a car chrysler says, hold my beer i'll, show you something. Okay, we've got this here: let's just do a quick visual inspection on the connector, get the little red tab out and at a glance that looks good. This side of the socket looks good, so we'll plug that back in let's turn on the marker lights and we'll just leave this dangling, then we can do some testing. So we've got the mark like that uh.

I suppose we can grab our wire diagram, but i don't think we're gon na have to first thing. We're going for is the ground, which i think is probably the black wire using chrysler's. It's like black with a green stripe. So, let's just see for poop and laughter, look at that, so we got full power on the black wire now easy way to tell is just unplug it if that power goes away, then that's the ground yep, so that power went away.
So one of these other wires should have a power out of them. Let's see yeah the middle one does so that tells us right then, and there it's a bad ground. We could have took a big fat. Gas who would have thought chrysler was a bad ground.

So, technically, in the perfect world, if i back probe that - and our theory is correct - we ground it - we should have a light and we do all right fancy fancy, let's find out where this ground goes well, hello. My monochromatic lover. Is there anything printing for me? There miss, though, appreciate it. Thank you according to this diagram, so here's our circuit, there's our bulb - that we're at g112 says left inner fender g112 right up yeah, so above the fans over here somewhere else is that it g112.

Oh yeah, somebody's already cleaned her up. Boys right is that what we're showing g one one, two yep, that's it somebody cleaned her up. Why it doesn't? Do you any good if it's oh crap, in the outlet, of course, who knows which one it is there's so many of them there's so many of them there? Mr, oh, what do you do i'll? Tell you what you do, what you want me to chop it off, that's what i would do. Did it start working all of a sudden or anything we wiggled and pulled nope.

I tell you what you can go through and find the bad one and just chop it off. There's a thing folks, you can uh clean grounds all you want. If the wires inside them are junk, then it doesn't matter and, as you guys know, from the hundreds of videos we've done on chrysler's with bad grounds. That's where the problem lies lay, however, you want to say it uh.

The best thing to do is just chop. It off we could go through and find the individual wire, but chances are if you got one, that's poached, there's other ones right behind it. So just chop it off all new eyelets bob, your uncle, it's easier there fixed, so so so foreign so um. That's it baby, you guys kind of get the drift it don't matter how many eyelets you use use 50 of them.

If you want or, however many wires, you have now we'll let those cool down put it back on, and i bet you 50 bucks it'll work. I might lose 50 bucks. Miss though i just bet the people. I bet i'm 50 and i don't know how many people are watching, but we could be broke.

That's what i'm telling you my fluid film can is empty and i don't feel like walking over to the other side over to the other side, the dark side over to josh's side, so we're gon na pack, her up here with some grow ultra seal electrical deoxit Stuff that would keep that from getting all cruddy again. I should outlast this car 10-1. That's the stuff! We use right there, peanut butter, bulb grease type stuff son of a mother. Aren't we all sons of mothers really, unless your daughter so confident we're just gon na? Take care of stuff, i actually just piled on the cart, but we can put this back if that's not it well, we don't know what it is probably could have started right here without even taking the fender liner out, but that would have been just guessing.
Okay. Let's see, that's got the stick shift. We got a blanket, oh look. I see some blinking down there, so that's good.

Who would have guessed huh, there's that we got a marker like and we got a marker like fantastic look at that it's a christmas miracle. Little jeep is flashing again, we'll leave it at that folks uh pretty easy, pretty common chrysler problem. Now, anytime, you have a problem on a dodge or anything, don't just assume and start. You know chopping off grounds and you know going at it cleaning grounds and you know changing parts follow the facts.

I mean there's three wires. There was pretty simple uh we had you know the possibilities of you know broken wires or you know bad tip them. If that's, where the you know the power comes from, but the fact that it was missing the mark light and the turn signal gave us a big clue that you know it's more than likely the ground. However, we still did our due diligence.

We went in there. We tested it, we found that the ground was carrying current uh. You know there was no path to ground and, oddly enough you know looking at those eyelets, they didn't look horrible, but in the end, ultimately one of the wires in there was crap. Now we could have went through and poked each individual ground until we found it repaired that single wire, but you guys know as well as i do uh at least out of all the videos that you know you've seen of chrysler ground repair, not to mention all The you know hundreds that we've done not on video.

If it's not a problem, now it's going to be so we just chop it off. You know, so i tell them. This is all i'll. Tell you what you want me to chop it off.

That's for something different, but anyhow, why don't you guys be different? Go in that comment section the questions, the comments, the concerns, the instinct. You know where to find us folks and just from our viewers, if i can do it, you can do it thanks for watching. You.

I frankly dont know how you get anything done with Mrs.O around, Id be too distracted. No make up needed, teacher glasses and a fuzzy sweater, the trifecta of distraction. My hats off to you Mr. O. Lucky man oh yeah great video! I need to pay attention, I have similiar problem, no not a jeep problem a distraction problem.

I had a burnt out tail light, so I put in a new bulb, still didn't work. Got out the meter, had power. Turns out the new bulb was bad.

Awesome job I learn a lot from watching your videos. I have one question for you what is the tool that you use when you attach to the park light also do you have a video showing how to use it. Thanks keep up the great work

Seeing the two of you interact reminds me of me and my wife now granted we've got quite a few years on the two of you but she used to help me do outside work plumbing heating and Air construction there were quite a few people that helped us build our home but it was mainly my wife and I and the people that would come over got such a kick how we interacted.

As usual, brilliant, efficient diagnostics. Some would say that crimp and solder is belt and suspenders, but I like both, too. I wonder if it would work better to tin before crimping, but time constraints have to be considered, too. Who knows, the belt and suspenders I wear every day may come into fashion, ha ha.

Hello Eric and Mrs. O. I have a spring project awaiting me similar to this Jeep's (only a Jeep by Badging) lighting problem, but it's on my 2018 Keystone Outback 328RL travel trailer. I lost rear running lights, rear turn signals and rear brake lights on my last RV trip. The front RV running marker lights work and the front side marker lights work. I suspect a common ground problem serving all these functions at the rear. Problem is Keystone does not provide a wiring schematic on their models! I called them to ask. So I'll have to drop the weather barrier underside of the frame to gain access, but this is fastened with pierced pins through the frame. No sheet metal screws! So I'll put this project off to the spring here in Michigan. Thanks for your videos Eric. Always enjoy seeing Mrs. O make a camio in your videos. She's a keeper Eric ; )

My neighbor's daughter had a new one a few years ago and right off the bat the coil went out or one of the coils for the spark plugs. I mentioned to him that that's not really a good vehicle there's going to be some problems. Within a few more months another coil went out. He finally told me you know you're right she traded it in now I don't know where much better but she bought a new Chevy half ton truck and right off the bat the rear end head noise in it turned out it had too much slop in the rear end the differential. They said it's because you've been towing a trailer her father stepped in and said that's what you do with the truck it's just a basic horse trailer. No way was it over the towing limit. In the end she got a new rebuilt or remanufactured rear end for her Chevy truck. Great videos always like learning thank you

Just fixed a corroded ground on my ‘03 ram with the big 5.7. Right next to the battery, went to clean the terminals and she plopped right off the eyelet. Southern truck though so there was still solid metal to attach it to after I recrimped it. Always a pleasure to watch your process no matter how simple the problem and solution are. Thanks

Nice crunched front bumper! Left front wheel bent too! Great driver! LOL It's a Chrysler… good enough for that person. Eric, what kind of wire stripper is that? Like it!

We used to have a saying something like 'Half the problems are usually down to a bad ground, and so are most of the other half'.

I had an 08 Jeep Patriot for over 9 years. Then I bought a 14 Ram Ecodiesel. I never learn.

Jeep ate suspension parts. The Ram eats my money.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Garth Clark says:

All the factory needed to do to provide a better "crimp" connection was to have soldered those terminals just like you did. I see this all the time…crap terminators.
